Postpartum Recovery
From physical aches and pains, to feelings of anxiety or depression, here are some ways to help make the time after baby easier to handle.
Diet Therapy
After having a baby (either through vaginal or c-section), your body loses blood, energy, and fluids. It’s very important to eat a diet that will replenish your body from the loss. If you’re deciding to breast feed, your body will need extra nutrients for this, too.
Bone Broth: This is a warm food, full of nutrients. It will help replenish your iron, which is very important to combat emotional disorders resulting from labor. Aside from helping replenish your blood, it will heal your digestive system and strengthen your immunity. If not bone broth, make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet.
Vitamin C: Along with helping support the immune system, Vitamin C is important in wound healing. This will help heal tears or C-Section wounds.
Whole Foods: Getting adequate nutrients from fruits and vegetables is essential for breast feeding. This can be done through cooking or juicing whole foods. I would also continue with prenatal vitamins while breastfeeding.
Muscle Strengthening
Acupuncture
Getting acupuncture regularly after having a baby can help with numerous ailments.
Mood: Acupuncture treatments can help relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression. It helps to calm the mind and promote happy neurotransmitters like serotonin.
Breast Feeding: There are different points that can stimulate healthy milk production. Acupuncture and cupping can also be done to eliminate pain or soreness from breast feeding.
Wound Healing: Acupuncture can speed up healing time. It can open up pathways in our body to heal the genital area, or a wound from a C-section. This can also help prevent scarring as well.
Pain: Acupuncture works great to heal pain and inflammation. Many women experience back pain, or joint pains after labor.
